Daily Ramble
I overslept this morning by a hour and a half. Probably because I only fell asleep at about 04:30 this morning. The Helpdesk project required some changes, and my week is an absolute disaster. I completed the code early this morning and uploaded it for testing, and hopefully the system will be rolled out today. I have minor bits and pieces to complete, but feedback right now is the key to making the system as successful as possible. I also started development on a Administration interface for the Interwoven connector we developed, allowing the control of access to the system as well as reporting on the usage of the connector by various divisions. The system was installed successfully yesterday at Ethekwini so I should have enough time to complete the required interfaces by next week.
I had a bit of fun last night when the home network suddenly decided to die. Michelle was unable to connect to anything, nor was her music playing which she hadn't stopped at any point. I first checked to make sure that the Windows Media Services is still running on the PDC, which it was. After checking the setup of her machine we found that the new puppy Xena had gotten her teeth into the speakers we had bought recently. So that solved one mystery. The second was a bit harder. After checking every network cable for potential bite marks, replacing two key cables and rebooting 2 or 3 times I somehow got the network back up, however for the life of me cannot understand how or why it died. I seriously need to look into doing a proper cable setup as well as resolving the power issue in the home office. I did however get my wireless to work, and ended up sitting in bed working for a while last night, since the air conditioner was playing havoc with my contact lenses.
Today I am struggling with a Symbol PDT running PalmOS 4.1. I have the SDK and a host of tools for it, yet can't get my mind wrapped around the concept of coding for it, and hoping that by the end of the day I can at least get a hello world application working on it. Wish me luck...
