Daily Ramble
I try and be on top of the news as best I can, however somehow the new load shedding schedule slipped past my radar. The problem however came in when load shedding did occur, since it happened to be between 18:00 and 20:30. Another 20 minutes using the Mac and my 3G card revealed that the new schedule will have as load shed mostly in the evening. After not having to deal with outages at all this is going to be an irritation. It also seems like the new schedule might require a reshuffle of the SA Developer meetings since Musgrave is scheduled to load shed on Wednesday evenings.
Thankfully the fully charged MacBook's provide 4-5 hours of battery life and with the additional 3G cards we are able to keep yourselves busy either online or by watching DVD's. Also the perfect opportunity to be romantic with dinner by candle light. I am going to try and find some creative ways to keep yourself occupied during these two and half hours of downtime each day. Most likely also a good time to catch up with what is happening at home.
I am currently completing my last 2 weeks at BSI. Running through all the projects I have worked on in the last year and preparing hand over documentation to ensure that the new developer doesn't get snowed under two quickly. It feels strange preparing to leave, and I am surprised at the wide variety of projects I have been involved in. I am also completing some last minute projects and meetings and hoping it will make the transition for the rest of the team easier.
Apart from the slow days we have 3 public holidays coming up to look forward to, and hopefully it will allow me the required amount of rest before I start my new job.
