Michelle is currently busy uploading all the photos from the wedding that was taken by friends and family on Saturday, 23 August 2008. After the six weeks of planning and final run-up I blogged about here, Michelle and I finally said "I do" at Illovo Africa Lodge. Watched by 57 of our closest friends and family we are extremely happy with the end result, with every aspect of the wedding completed better then we anticipated.
Michelle's Dad and I arrived at the Lodge at around 14:00 in the afternoon, and Michelle and the bridesmaids had already completed decorating the reception hall and the ceremony hall for the wedding. They had disappeared of to get ready for the ceremony while I was preparing to meet the various guests. At around 14:30 the brilliant photographer team from Lenssense arrived. This Lisa and Werner are an excellent team, having put us at ease and also proving to be the most invisible photographers I have ever met. At no point during the ceremony or reception can I recall a camera flashing in my eyes or having to dodge or repeat something for a photo. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for photographers.
Once all the guests arrived we proceeded to the ceremony hall. When I finally saw Michelle in her dress she took my breath away, with everyone from the bridesmaids to the best men being completely and utterly focussed on us. Rev. David Thompson led us smoothly through the ceremony, putting us at ease all the way through from the honour ceremony to the signing of the register. Both Michelle and I agreed afterwards that it all went very quickly, but exactly the way we had hoped.
We left the ceremony hall for the family pictures. This kept us busy for a good 20 minutes trying to get everyone together and included in the pictures. As the rest of the family and friends proceeded to the reception hall we started the long walk to the beach to have some intimate photos taken. The weather played along perfectly, and apart from the wind we were able to have some good fun shots taken for the wedding album. We all then proceeded back up to the reception hall to start the second part of the evening events. Thankfully Michelle's train on the dressed could be hooked up for the rest of the evening.
The reception went smoothly, with one of the best men presenting us with a very interesting PowerPoint presentation on how we met, since Michelle and I started our relationship online more then 3 years ago. Michelle's brother then read a letter he wrote her for the special occasion, and a family friend then proceeded to remind us why they value us in their lives. After I toasted the parents and thanked everyone that needed to be thanked, we started with the serving of the food, and the rest of the evening becomes history.
To everyone that sent us well wishes, every person that attended, every bridesmaid and best man, family member and friend, thank you for making this day our day.
The photos for the evening event is slowly being uploaded to Facebook, and also to both our personal websites. Watch this space!
