Daily Ramble
3 Days Late? Not really. Most people wake up on New Year’s day hung-over or wondering where they spent the previous evening. Other’s sleep through the whole event. HoneyB and myself spent the evening doing our own thing. I was busy reconfiguring my network and home PC’s. A blown power supply killed my server and in the process also damaged the CPU. After careful consideration we suddenly realized the server was a overkill and I converted it into a desktop machine for myself. It’s a Dual Core 1.6Ghz with 4GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD. Michelle got a 500GB HDD added to her current Quad Core 2.4 with 4GB of RAM setup. I also recently bought two ATI Radeon HD 2400 Graphics Cards and I am highly impressed with the performance. While fighting my way through all these different hardware changes and software fixes, HoneyB spent her evening enjoying Guitar Hero 3 for the X-Box.
The purchase of Guitar Hero 3 was more exciting then expected. We were standing at Incredible Corruption and decided to purchase ourselves a Christmas Gift. I had a short opportunity to play with the Guitar, until HoneyB got here hands on it. By the second day, we were driving around looking for a second guitar, and ended up buying another copy, since we couldn’t find any copies of the Aerosmith edition or Guitar Hero I or II anywhere. I have to admit the Guitar Hero bug has bitten us properly, and the wife is already doing Medium difficulty guitar solo’s and as we speak is visiting friends with her guitar by her side. I did draw the line at her threatening to sleep with her guitar. I am not sure I would have lived the experience down.
My parent are visiting from Johannesburg and will be staying until next week. Most of the holiday was spent either going out with them, or fixing items around the new house. We recently moved into a nice 5 bedroom house in Pinetown. It is unbelievable what a difference it has made to our stress levels and sense of privacy, compared to the previous 3 bedroom flat like setup. The dogs and cats are also having an awesome time with the new space. I have made a today item to take pictures of the new home to post as soon as I have a moment to spare.
My new year started with a to-do list. 40+ items and by day 3 I have completed around 5. Slow progress? Hell yeah. But I am going to be persistent and stick to it. Way to many things slipped through the cracks in 2008 and I am going to do my best to avoid this happening in 2009.
To all site visitors, their families and fiends. Have a joyous and happiness filled 2009!
