For the last 3 years I have maintained a technology and development focussed blog on DotNet.org.za. Over the last few months I have done cross posts of my development and community posts to this blog as well as maintaining Diago.co.za. To Dev or not To Dev was started when I was not entirely ready for the community world. I have changed a lot since the first post and the time has now come for Diago.co.za to evolve. I will no longer be posting on To Dev or not To Dev, however will continue to support and follow DotNet.org.za. For any person wanting to get started with technology and create a footprint in South Africa there is currently no better place. Those of you that do follow me either via a browser or RSS please update your to Diago.co.za. (RSS)

Over the next few months my focus will also be changing considerably around the content on my blog, focussing more on supplying useful information around technology, specifically the Microsoft .Net stack and the technical side of technology. In this process I have started utilizing the articles feature of SubText to give a more permanent home to some of my more popular posts. Currently this area consists of the following categories:

  • Development – All articles related to general development in Microsoft .Net.
  • Impressions – Reviews of products and technologies I use or play with over time.
  • SharePoint – Posts related to developing and managing Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007.
  • SubText – Posts related to the SubText blog engine, written and maintained by Phil Haack.
  • Virtualization – I am getting more and more involved in virtualization, and this area will contain articles around the technology.

There will from time to time be personal posts on the site as well, however the main focus will remain technology. Since I have joined Mr. Price Group the development bug has seriously bitten me again and I am extremely excited about the new tools Microsoft is developing for the .Net Framework as well as the 2008 range of server products.

Some trivia: I noticed for some reason my co.za registration doesn’t reflect that Diago.co.za was originally registered in 1996, however I have owned the domain since I started Technikon. I never finished my studies however the name stuck. The nickname came from my days of playing Multi User Dungeons (MUD), specifically HercMUD, and one of my half elf clerics was called Diago, after the talking parrot in Aladdin. I realised later I got the name slightly wrong, however it stuck and for a long time still people often call me Diago in real life.
