Daily Ramble
My blog has been slightly quiet over the last week but not without reason. I have been spending more and more time writing code and have also launched a few new projects that will slowly become more visible over the next few weeks. In this process I have moved most of my web development over to Framework 3.5 SP1 and required a hosting provider that support both the new framework, as well as Asp.net Mvc. This required me to move all the existing domains from our current hosting solution to a new provider.
All my domains had been hosted with a South African provider, Server-Admins. I have been extremely happy with their hosting solution and service, and they have really gone far to try and assist with various issues I have had since moving to them earlier in the year. However they currently only provide Windows Server 2003 and IIS6 hosting, and having been around hosting companies for a while understand the cost limitation in upgrading to a newer Server 2008 and IIS7 platform. Sadly I therefore had to look for a new hosting provider, however finances is always an issue and I needed and affordable host offering me the features I needed.
After a lot of research I was able to locate a hosting provider in the United States which offers the facilities I require at a very reasonable price. Reliablesite offers both Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 hosting packages, and since I manage more then one domain they offer a very nice reseller hosting solution. I spent the last week moving all the existing domains I own to the new provider, and also moving databases for the various solutions. Apart from one problem with creating virtual directories in subdirectories when using the DotNetPanel software provided by Reliablesite, I have had very little issues with managing or setting up my hosting requirements.
With the move finally complete I will be updating my blog in the next few days with some new articles as well as some exciting information on the home front.
