Hilton Giesenow, South African C# MVP and one of my long time mentors has launched a new exciting initiative for SharePoint developers. The MOSS Show is a podcast recorded and produced by Hilton covering various topics around the SharePoint 2007 product and it’s various flavours. He has extensive experience in SharePoint development and most recently presented sessions on SharePoint 2007 at DevDays 2009 in South Africa. He has also been a Microsoft MVP for a few years.
In the first episode Hilton interviews Marie Wessels from 3Fifteen, one of his colleagues and a SharePoint custom development guru, on what SharePoint is and what the different features are the product offers. It’s a very interesting overview of the SharePoint product for developers covering the limitations and advantages of using the SharePoint platform. They also discuss some very useful free tools to use when developing for SharePoint.
In the second episode he interviews Mike Fitzmaurice, and ex-Microsoft SharePoint team member working for a major SharePoint ISV. They discuss the way ISV can get involved in the SharePoint field and what makes these ISV’s successful. It also provides a very interesting inside view on Microsoft and how it works. The ability for MVP’s to reach key figures, new and old at Microsoft has always been a huge value add to the communities, and Hilton shows that it can add immense value worldwide.
In the third episode he interviews Rory Headon-Weeks, from Microsoft South-Africa. They discuss the searching capabilities of SharePoint at length. The value of SharePoint as a searching tool is often undervalued and this episode offers great insight into this functionality.
I want to congratulate Hilton on a awesome podcast and I hope to see much more coming from him in the future. Visit the site, download the podcasts and enjoy!
