Everything in one place — how we handle your information under POPIA, the terms of using this website, and our company and PAIA details. Written in plain language.
Effective June 2026
diago Africa is the South African operation of diago, the European conversational-AI company for car dealerships. When we talk about "diago", "we", "us" or "our" on this page, we mean the company below — the responsible party for your personal information.
diago Africa works with diago's European parent and technology partners to deliver the service. Where we process information on behalf of a dealership (for example, recordings and bookings from its phone line), the dealership is the responsible party and we act as its operator under POPIA.
In line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA)
We respect your privacy and only collect what we need to talk to you and run our service. Here's the plain version.
We process your information with your consent (for example, when you tick the consent box on our form), to take steps you've asked for, to perform a contract, or to pursue our legitimate business interests in a way that doesn't override your rights. You can withdraw consent at any time.
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with parties who help us deliver the service, under appropriate agreements, including:
Some processing may take place outside South Africa (including the European Union). Where information is transferred across borders, we use providers that offer protection that is comparable to POPIA.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as the law requires. Enquiry details are kept while we're in contact and for a reasonable period afterwards. Call recordings and dealership data are retained according to our agreement with each dealership.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — access controls, encryption in transit, and trusted providers — to keep personal information secure.
Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm what information we hold about you, to access or correct it, to delete it, to stop processing it, or to object to processing. You may also withdraw consent or lodge a complaint. To do any of these, email our Information Officer at info@diago.co.za.
Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013
When you submit our contact or book-a-demo form and tick the consent box, you confirm that:
Giving consent is voluntary. If you'd rather not, you can simply email or call us instead. We process all personal information in line with the eight POPIA conditions for lawful processing.
If you believe we've mishandled your information, please contact our Information Officer first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the regulator:
